Investing time in preparing your CV is very important as it demonstrates your skills and experience and shows your ability to meet the specifications of the job role.
We ask all candidates who register to email their CV to us, so that we can then forward it to a client for a particular post, for which you would like to apply.
Your CV should include the following headings:
Contact details:
Name, address, telephone numbers & email.
Profile:
Brief description of your current situation, your availability, achievements & career aspirations.
Key Skills:
What your main strengths & capabilities are within a professional capacity.
Education:
Schools/colleges/universities attended, qualifications obtained. & training courses undertaken.
Employment:
Listing most recent first with dates, give a brief description of your roles & responsibilities.
References:
Names, addresses and contact numbers of two professional referees.
Useful CV Tips:
1. Emphasize your most recent work – it is what potential employers will be most interested in.
2. Give an honest & accurate account of your capabilities – and do not be tempted to over sell or under sell your strengths and experience.
3. Try not to make your CV longer than two sides of A4. A CV which is concise and to the point, rather than a six page document, is more likely to make a positive impact. Employers are busy people and they want to find out quickly what you have to offer.
4. Employers will frown on a CV with bad punctuation, spelling or grammar, so always make sure yours is error free. Remember: it could mean the difference between getting an interview or not. The spell check function on your computer will not catch every mistake.
5. Our clients need to know when you worked and where to get a better understanding of your working history and to use the dates for background checks. Missing dates, especially for long periods of time, could cast doubts in the minds of clients and a CV may be disregarded as a result.
6. Different typefaces and boxes may look nice on paper, but if the CV needs to be scanned, they can cause confusion. We suggest keeping your CV in plain text.
